Is there a forumite out there somewhere who has a redundant pair (P & S) of mounting shoes for a Walker Knotmaster trailing log? I'd be happy to send some beer tokens so do have a good look at your sterns, folks, you might be able to have a tidy-up and then go for a drink afterwards. Cheers.

It would not be difficult to make a pair from some bits of brass. Although the geuine article is dished they could be flat and mounted on spacers to allow the heads of the studs on the arm to pass underneath.

Thanks for your comment VicS, that is a possibility if I can't find the gen article. I shall trawl the boat jumbles and closely study peoples' sterns (their boats, that is) and see if I can relieve them of unwanted hardware. People often stop using this type of equipment but don't bother to remove the fittings - they are the ones I'm targetting. It's a shame that such a well engineered piece of equipment is not popular anymore and still manufactured. So much for 'progress'!

Well, you are not having mine...

I've only got one, on the starboard side. This is (a) because I could not rustle up a pair and (b) because the prop is on the port side, and this obviates the well known log line round prop issue when you find yourself in a flat calm in the middle of nowhere.

Seriously, I suggest a prowl round the "dereliction" ends of the less grand type of boatyard and a fossick through shoe boxes in the less grand type of chandler.
