I had to replace my gusher 10 today. Its used to empty the holding tank. Fortunately the chandlers had what appeared to be an identical model (GUSHER MK 3)

I fitted it and was surprised to find that viewed from above the handle the inlet is now on the RHS when facing the gasket. The opposite way round to the original. The bolts that set the orientation seem to be glued in place, so cannot just invert the chamber.

Has anyone else suffered this and if so how is it overcome? I note that Whale do not offer options as to which side pumps out.

I’ve had a couple of episodes with Whale pumps. On each occasion I called Whale, I quickly got through to someone who knew their stuff and was sorted out promptly.

My gusher is ancient and has the inlet on the right looking at the diaphragm with the handle pointing up.

Poke your finger up one of the connections.

If you finger hits a rubber flap and will not go any further that is the outlet.

If your finger hits a rubber flap that will allow your finger to pass it that is the inlet.

The diagram, fig.1, in the installation instructions indicates that the pump can be installed to give the handle vs inlet/ outlet configuration you require.
The instructions which follow the diagram explain how to do this:
To Reposition Handle::
(a) Slacken wormdrive clip and remove diaphragm
(b) Undo the bolts from bracket and rotate body to new
position relative to the fork and diaphragm. Note: Inlet and
outlet are always at 180 to each other
(c) Reassemble bolts, washers and securing brushes in bracket and tighten

(The exploded parts diagram also indicates that the bolts which secure the handle bracket to the body can be removed .)
