Just a thumbs up for Mark, the new owner. We stopped overnight a couple of weekends ago. Couldn't have been more friendly or helpful and the dinghies on the visitors moorings were very handy! Apparently they are planning some showers for next year too.

Can you clarify "dinghies on visitor moorings"?

If I see a dinghy on a mooring I would never pick it up, assuming the owner may return soon. Is this a deterrent or intended to be helpful?

Very much intended to be helpful.

The dinghies are provided for the use of people on the visitors moorings. They are bright orange and marked visitor. This was very convenient for us (as a small boat, it's quite a faff to get the inflatable out.) Perfect for a swift pint too.

Mark is trying hard to make Waldringfield a destination and catch some of the trade on it's way through to the tidemill. There's a little shop selling a few supplies (milk etc), keycode for the toilets, and he kindly printed a forecast for us. Cost a tenner overnight (but felt well worth it...) That's no increase from last year and the previous owner IIRC. We just had one night in the river and were off early so it suited us not to go over the sill at Woodbridge.

That sounds excellent, stopping at Waldringfield was not that easy as there were no clear visitor moorings, and to provide a dinghy to use is brilliant.

Let's hope they don't all get nicked.

Not sure £10 to pick up a buoy is a bargain. But compared to Orford at £9 it may be!

At least a dinghy is provided and toilets. Sounds like a very good idea.

Is there a charge for an hour or two to visit the pub during the day?

Must say I prefer Ramsholt but not visited the pub this year.

We arrived at Waldringfield on Friday, 23rd Aug and picked up a visitors mooring (sadly no dinghy attached) and had a terrific meal at the Maybush (dogs allowed). It poured with rain all day Saturday so we decided to stay another night. We took the dogs for long walks in the beautiful countryside and had another meal at the Maybush. Sadly the boatyard was not open for the entire time that we were there and the Union Jack was flying upside down!!!!! However, the visitor dinghies are a brilliant idea and I wish the enterprise well. We will be visiting again in the very near future. It was £20 (pushed through the letterbox) very well spent!!!!!

Memphis F,

We were there on the rainy Saturday and were told that was his first weekend off since buying the place! There was a lady manning the shop/ gallery for him.

To be honest the harbourmaster has always been great at pointing us to a free mooring in the past. The great thing about the new arrangement, in my view, is that he is using the moorings closest to the beach for visitors. I hope the economics work for him.

We were there three or four weeks ago. A very friendly reception, the dinghy was useful, and showers and wifi included in the price. Luxury! Not the cheapest moorings, but they have some value adds. I would return.

Wasn't aware that the showers and wifi were included. That is good news indeed. Thanks. We may be there this weekend.
