The European wake boarding championships and music festival at Abersoch was abandoned yesterday after intense flooding and three deaths when a bridge collapsed. I had to rescue my teenage son and four friends and decamp to MYC for hot showers, the industrial washer/dryer for muddy clothes and a hot evening meal in the club.

I have never heard (if thats the right word) such quiet teenagers. They hadn't eaten or slept for 48 hours.

What a real shame and a huge contrast to last years baking weather where it was a roaring success.

Cor! what a shame.
The Annual Bot Jumble at Llanfair P. G. was almost as bad.
It did go ahead but there was chaos, ref vehicles stuck in the mud etc.
Quiet because of the weasther too.
"Decamp to Madoc Yacht Club for showers"
I don't know, any excuse to hit the Bar!!!
Still OK for The Wiss Round to PD barring duff conditions?
Barring, why does the Bar or similar always turn up when your name hits the Forum?
Oh! and by the way I have the latest positions for the bouys in Caernarfon Bar.
See it's happened again. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My son was the same - took 6 of them to push his car out of a field, and I had to use a jet wash to clean his jeans and shoes- SWMBO wouldnt let them near the washing machine! I thought it was a bit off that there is no refund, considering teh organisers cancelled it. James has been told he wont get his money back, even though they only had one night there.

DS is threatening to Wiss round on the 30th ish.
Consider this "Your Official Invite" rsvp.
Cripes! I,d better nip round the offy.
No that's no good I'll nip round the Wholesalers asap!
Major Catastrophe is hoping to be around too.
Anybody else?
Blimey I hope the Wholesalers deliver.
My biggest car will only hold about 12 cases!

Are you sure about the 3 killed? My son came back with the same story, but nothing in the press,so beginning to think it's rumour.

I think it may be an unfounded rumour re the deaths. but it does sound like it was horrendously organised - Glastonbury survives 4 or 5 days of wet conditions so this whould be able to also. Makes you think that they might have just been lucky up to now

As for refunds, they are not officially offering any, just an "allowance" (note, NOT a free ticket) against next years (if it happens!) ticket price. However, I suspect that they may be in breach of contract by not providing the service they were paid for - ie Saturday Night's music festival and are therefore liable for refunds. But I suspect that they are not insured and therefore don't have the cash to pay out, which is pretty poor really.

This is especially so when you consider that most of the attendees are teenagers for whom £30 will be a fair bit of spare cash.
