Just curious what the waiting time is for a new motor boat?

the used market has gone fairly crazy over the last couple of years and there is a shortage of berthing in UK marinas, I get the impression this would be the same for new purchases as well but interested to know.

do you currently have one on order or know someone who does, how long is the waiting list currently?

Plenty of stock on dealers websites

When at Southampton show this year, most were claiming they were sold out for long periods.

The problem is, you never know if that is sales speak or the truth - but if there is a lot of stock at dealers, I suspect some buyers have pulled out if their stocks have dropped, business costs gone up and cost of borrowing risen considerably....

It's a turbulent time at the moment.

No one can answer that unless you tell then what make or Size of boat you are thinking of. For some smaller boats there is stock available

recent youtube video on here, where the builders were refusing to accept any new business as they had no idea how much they would need to charge after the two /three year wait for completion.

We viewed a used boat a couple of weeks ago... the broker is a dealer for new boats from a leading brand.

He was surprisingly frank... he told us that out of the 5 recent orders that had been placed for new 38-40-ish feet yachts, 3 had since pulled out loosing their deposits!

It does feel like a cool breeze has set in.

One of the biggest issues now is the supply of materials, engines are on a massive lead lime for some and electrical items aren’t much better, this will limit what can be delivered.
Same with a lot of new vehicles at 12 months plus for delivery.

depends on manufacturer, model, etc. They all have certain build slots and depends if one is available. Ordered a Princess v55 in October. In build January and get delivery end of May. Other models for same manufacturer had no build slots left for next year.

Weird 'sales speak'!

Hello, I'd like to buy a boat.

I'm sorry, we're sold out for long periods.

Oh. Well thanks anyway. Bye.

Goodbye.
