Waiting for the tide at Barry?

Having rushed back from Watchet again beat the tide and avoid going sideways down channel against an ebb / NE wind, I wondered what options there are in Barry for anchoring to wait for the flood? I've never quite figured-out whether there are any LW moorings for a few hours at Barry YC, and if not, where can one anchor? Is just outside Jacksons Bay prohibited (some vague memory from the past)? Would welcome some alternatives (Blue Anchor at Minehead would of course be one to delay the return, but on a lee shore in NW/E winds - hence the idea of the Welsh coast.

Wait for Graham to come along but in the past I have used the mooring in the harbour.If its calm just anchor in one of the bays either side.

Hi, I don't want to second guess their answer for this season, and rather uselessly, I don't have their contact details on me at the moment, but the local club certainly used to monitor its email, and would respond to questions about the current state of things in the harbour, which aren't always exactly as described in the pilot books.

Let's just say very amicable arrangements have been made in the past - so it is worth contacting them!

I had a rough watchett to cardiff passage a few months ago, F6 eastery. Missed the tide at lavernock point and had to divertto barry for a few hours. Not much room in there, I moored to the pilots buoy after they came over to see if I was ok.

Pretty exposed to the swell through the entrance and didnt look like there was much depth of water in most of it
