Waeco CR50 Fridge - How to top up refrigerant ??

I think my CR50 needs refrigerant adding - I've cleaned the fans and compressor and its still cycling constantly and whilst the hose to the evaporator plate is cold (can't feel the plate all over as its inside the plastic wall of the ice box) we have lots of melt water and a slightly warm fridge...

On my built in fridge I have a threaded valve for my top up kit to attach to (and have topped it up several time over the years) but the CR50 has just one outlet to the evaporator plate and one with a crimped sealed end as far as I can see. There seems to be no threaded piece to attach the recharge kit to. Id it hidden somewhere? Do I need to get a threaded valve and solder it to the crimped piece?

Is anyone familiar with this brand (using a BD35 compressor - but then so it my other fridge and that has the refill valve ) who can tell me please?

There is a page on it on my website. Cannot help with the fitting query but if you were to add one the fridge would need to be empty of refrigerant, fittings are normally brazed, the fridge would then need to be evacuated before refilling with refrigerant.

I had a similar problem with my Waeco CR 40, try and find a local company as I did who does refrigeration servicing, I found one on Tyneside who did big commercial stuff but kindly took only an hour to
refill mine as they are all familiar with the Danfoss motors, only problem is you have of coarse got to take the fridge out and you can only really test it when you put it back, but all was well with mine.

You could fit a line-tape valve on the 1/4" pipe that has been crimped, allowing you to connect a set of gauges enabling you to top up your system with refrigerant, without the need to degass and braze in a Schrader valve, some engineers dislike them but if your system is running on r134a the low side pressure is only 0-40 psi, they have been used by domestic refrigeration engineers for 20 years +
At less than £10 a cheep way to get a set of gauges onto your system also by not having to degass you can see if it's low on refrigerant or not ...

Thanks Ade that sounds like the solution. Any idea where I can order one of those - I'm in Cartagena, Spain so would need to get it posted I think as my Spanish is not yet up to explaining that to a hardware store...

Would this be the right thing:

Yes, but i prefer the type that are specific to the size of pipe which is probably 1/4"
( Refrigeration pipe is still imperial )
the one- size fits all with the packers don't seal the copper pipe as well.
You need to insure the best seal between the internal o'ring and copper pipe so install the valve on a section of pipe work that is straight and uniform , if you haven't the room on the crimped pipe you can install the valve on the suction line,
The larger of the two other pipes attached to the compressor, probably 5/16"
