Got a pass from SWMBO to go to the boat this w/e - booked a while back.

Forcast is a tropical 4 degrees daytime

Do I go sailing anyway and be miserable? Or stay at home and be miserable?

Pass is not transferable.

Boat has no heating so I have to bake a steady stream of spuds to keep the oven on.

Rob.

Go down to the boat to spend a few minutes just sitting there quietly thinking... "mine.... all mine....."

Soak up the atmosphere.... move a few things around absent mindedly.... and then go home.... carefully done you can use up most of a day.........

Go for it!

I was on the Solent last weekend for the first time and it was brilliant! Freezing cold but F5-6 both days, sailed from Port Solent to Port Hamble on Saturday & back Sunday. Cracking broad reach from the Hamble to the fort outside Portsmouth on the Sunday, 9 knots with 2 reefs & No3 jib up.

BTW does anyone know what that upside christmas pudding is at the top of Southampton Water??

Yeah I'm going out from the Hamble on Saturday - to deliver my new Hanse around to the east coast (harwich, shotley point marina), Brrrrr, I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it!

It is a huge refuse incinerator - upwind of Southampton! Curiosity overcame me last year and I had to go to and find out what it was. I thought the Dome had bred/breeded whatever. At least the smell from Fawley means it is not too noticeable. French design I think - it would be.

Alex,

I'm probably going to have to make that same trip in a few weeks.... what stops are you planning?..... are you doing it in one trip?, or leaving the boat somewhere during the week?.... be interested to hear how you get on, and what route you end up taking, especially whether you end up doing Dover to Harwich or Ramsgate to Harwich.....and what tidal gates end up causing you problems, or are helpful....

Have a safe and pleasant trip....
