Hi Guys,

I'm upgrading my batteries and I am trying to work out what is going on with the current setup, one thing I noticed is the VSR appears to be set up backwards, can anyone else confirm this?

BEP Digital Voltage Sensing Relay - DVSR - Quality Marine Electronics

From what I can tell on BEP VSR's the sensing post is on the left as you look at the device, this would be connected to the starter so that when the starter is charging it also charges the house, in this set up it looks like the sensing post is connected to the house? The only thing i can think of is that its set up like this so when the solar is on it starts charging the starter?

Looking at one just now with the wiring diagram and you are correct. The engine battery is connected to the post on the left and the house to the one on the right next to the small black and red wires.

I have just fitted two to our club boats. The inside the VSR's are clearly marked, and the starter battery post is painted red.

My apologies. I was looking at it the wrong way round - the one I have is linked into a switch cluster which confused me.

If in doubt look at the technical data on BEP's own website. It shows how the vsr should be wired although ITYWF that it is actually dual sensing
