Could anyone tel me the difference between KAD42 & KAD43 seem same horse power as far as i can see, also whats the KAMD. These options seem to be on various boats weve been looking at.
Cheers

Early KAD 42's had a few problems, that's the KAD 42a's. KAD 42 b's were better, and the KAD 42 pa's are basically KAD43's, but the KAD 43's have a metal supercharger plumbing as the plastic stuff on the pa's tended to collapse.

KAMD is the shaft drive version of the KAD - i.e. they are the same engine.

Nar… They aint confusing really.

AQAD = Aquamatic after cooled marine diesel, ‘Aquamatic’ being old VP tong for an outdrive
AQD = Aquamatic marine diesel, ie non after cooled lower output
TAMD = Turbo after cooled marine diesel, same as an AQAD only inboard
TMD = see AQD
MD = non turbo, marine diesel
AD = later version of AQAD
KAD = like an AQAD only supercharged
KAMD = see TAMD, but add on the supercharger

Aha. "K" (as in KAD) for Kompressor
