if I would be you ordering, you should also consider a new fuelpump and a starter. The pump is about 30 years and has seen it best days. The starter is made by Valeo and has inside a plastic gearbox and it is a bitch to take out the starter motor...mine died the second time...i had the proper tools on board......repair was only 20 Euro. I will have from now on a replacement on board.

You'll be disturbing some of the copper water pipes. Be sure to order new rubber seals for them. Be aware that these seals come in different sizes, with different part numbers, so be sure to look at a Volvo Penta parts list and note down the part numbers for the seals you need, then be sure to fit them in the correct positions.

I would add new copper injector sleeves to the list and probably new valve stem oil seals. The 2003 can coke up its head something chronic so a quick valve regrind can work wonders.

Where can you buy the copper sleeves? VOLVO doesn't have any on stock. My sleeves were re grinded by the mechanics. I too have set of seals for the water pipes on board.

My local VP dealer, Volspec, lists the sleeves as being in stock. Part number 838061, about £40 each.

Forget it. Have you got the injector sleeve swaging tools? You can spend more money here than a new replacement engine.

You only need to replace the sleeves if you can't get the injectors out cleanly. On my old 2003T, the injectors were easy to remove when I had them serviced.

But you don't have to buy the special tool to swage new sleeves, just ask the VP dealer you buy them from to do it for you.
