My VP2002 starts and runs well. It does however leave a silver slick in the exhaust water when on tick over, nothing major. Raising the rpm seems to clear it. No black smoke although it does the usual 2002 blue smoke when idling. I never need to top up oil . !989 engine, I don't think the injectors have ever been out as paint in undisturbed. So, is this normal or is there an underlying problem brewing. Thanks in anticipation. Graham.

This is usually an indication of less than perfect injection and so easily fixed by visiting the service centre with injectors in hand.

If they have been in for a long while beware you do not move the copper tubes in the head in which the injectors ar fixed.

When replacing the injectors I would suggest coating them with a copper based lubricant as available in Halfords which prevents them seizing in the tubes.

[/ QUOTE ] "Don't fix what ain't broke" just bear in mind what Bilgediver has said. When and if there is any indication of things deteriorating, black smoke under heavy load perhaps, get the injectors serviced.

My 2003 is just the same as yours - oil sheen on the water and blue smoke when idling - and my injectors were serviced last year, as I thought this was my problem.

Also doesn't appear to use any oil - at least I don't see the level dropping to require a top-up.

Still just the same as before getting the injectors serviced.

An MN saying SOJ - TFA. (Steady old job - touch f*** all).

As Vic says, "don't fix what ain't broke".
