anyone changed one with the saildrive in situ.... mine currently has a slight leak when it's shut off. Not looked into it yet but it looks very tight to get at let alone get a spanner on. The one i have at the moment has a blue cylindrical shut off valve.

I get the feeling i should of changed it last year when i had the saildrive out to do the seal

TIA

Hi

I bought a new seacock to change mine last year when I was out of the water for two weeks. But I chickened out because of access. Made a start but quickly realised that I could not get a spanner where I could exert enough force and it could all turn into a damaged blob that I could never get out.
So I reconnected the hose and decided that I could live with the existing seacock that does not shut off completely until I am out of the water for 5 months next winter.
If you go for it let me know how you get on. Any tips would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have the same problem as me. I have only just noticed it when i changed the impellor there was a constant dribble. my boats still in the water so no chance me changing the seacock for a few months or so. in the mean time i think i may put an extra shut off valve in the pipe before the impellor to stem the flow.

This may be a long shot, but would only take a couple of minutes to check...

It's a ball valve which you would expect to turn 90 degrees between fully open and fully closed. Mine turns through an angle of nearer 110 degrees, however, but does seem to close fully. If the alignment was slightly different, however, I wouldn't be surprised to find it "re-opening" in the fully clockwise position.

Worth turning it back a few degrees to see if that stops the dribble?
