Help needed please. I am going to change all bellows and coolant hoses on my 290 DP leg (with powertrim). I have previously worked on a 280 DP leg without powertrim without any problems but I am wondering if there are any pitfalls I should watch for? Also does anyone have any info on this proceedure? I will gladly reinburse any costs etc.

Try the book "Volvo Penta Stern Drive" Vol 3 by Joan & Clarence Coles published by Seloc. I got mine thro Amazon, Can't remember how much but I think about £30. Well worth it since it covers detailed overhaul of engines and ancilaries (spelling?) as well.
have fun and it's heavy so exploit a friend

Thanks for the info.
Rob that web site you referred me to is quite something.

Hi, I can reccomend the book too, the only thing I found though was it did try and cover many drives so was a bit generic, I changed all the hoses on mine plus the gear change seal - problem was the book didn't cover the exact details of my particular gear change assembley - it should get you through it ok, and you will need a friend :-)

To change out the coolant hose and bellows is quite straight forward, but before you start take a good look at the position of the coolant hose. Being an S' shape hose it needs to go back in the correct position. This is so it will line up with the flange on the leg correctly without twisting the hose. When you are ready to remove the leg, you may find it helps to cut through the coolant hose. Then release each end in turn from the flanges. Take care with the flanges as they are plastic. I find its not a bad practice to renew the inboard flange, as it can be easily damaged when removing the hose. You may need to drive the inboard flange and hose out with a wood dolly, drive it out into the boat.
When replacing the the inboard flange take care not to damage the O'ring.
One other point to remember is to align all the jubilee clips correctly.
Dave.
