Hi, we have had TMD40A in our Storebro 31 for 14 years and know them well, excellent engines. Have now moved on......unsure if we should have! Have another Storebro with TAMD41A engines.
I know these are famous to be smokers cold.....so not too concerned, they settle down warm nicely. However I wish to check the operation of the exhaust flaps designed to reduce smog at low revs by a solenoid. So can somebody enlighten me as to how the flaps operate and when to they close/open.
What switches the power supply to the solenoid so it can move the flap closed at low revs/warm up and what then allows the flap to open at higher revs.
I have not worked out why a partially restricted exhaust reduces smoke either? can somebody clarify that too! its nice to understand thigs
Many thanks Petrolhead63
