Hi all,

I recently acquired a Cornice 31 with twin TAMD41As. I had an engine survey done but a few things don't appear to be right.

Both engines appear to run cool at anything under cruising RPM. I could run for an hr at 1500rpm in gear and the gauges barely move.

I have bought an IR thermometer to do some checks but am wondering if this could be a sign of tstats being stuck open? I might change them anyways. If so are they hard to replace? I have the workshop manual but it is on the boat 60 miles away so thought I would ask here first.

Thanks in advance.

Yes and they might not be stuck open just not able to close tight enough and they are very easy to change. Just open the housing and it will be obvious if you are mechanically inclined.

You might want to flush the system to make sure there are no deposits/particles that might otherwise give the same symptoms with the new thermostats after a bit of usage.

Many thanks.

I'll order them and fire them in. I plan to flush the raw water system with some rydlyme and a pump as well.
