Does anyone know this engine? I can't seem to locate the gearbox dipstick - does it have one? Also I can't find any record of it having a change of gearbox oil. Is it possible it "shares" the engine oil???

Thanks

Whilst I have never owned a 31, I would doubt that the setup is very different from my TAMD41P.

It would certainly not share the oil. On the 41 gearbox the dipstick is attached to a hex headed plug on the starboard aft top of the gearbox casing (Hex about 19mm, plug outer diameter about 30mm). You remove the plug and the dipstick is attached to the underside of it.

The dipstick is the shiny round cap with a screwdriver slot in it, undo it with a large flat bladed screwdriver to check the level, also these boxes are prone to faults, slipping cones and not coming out of gear when you need it too!, you have to stop the engine to get it to come out, scary in the wrong places.
