Anyone had one done? Engineer looked at mine and said there was a problem. Something about access/room inside hull where saft exits. Said it needed some modification and they weren't very enthusiastic about doing it.
Any ideas? Have you had it done? Is it worth a 2nd opinion?

I fitted one to a M31 Mk2 when I owned one a few years ago. To improve access to do the job you need to remove the battery box(es) - easy job. The VP seal is 25mm whereas the shaft is 1". This translates in a difference of 0.4mm and in practice this makes no difference. Once the battery boxes were removed the job was relatively straightforward. It was one of the best mods I did on the boat - no drips and reliable for the time I owned her (4yrs)

I fitted new Volvo seal to my Beneteau Idylle last year. The engineer removed the previous Deep Sea Seal and installed the new Volvo Seal whilst the boat was in the water which I was very pleased with as it means that I can replace it whilst afloat when and if necessary.
I once crossed the North Atlantic with a disintegrating rubber seal as the yard in Azores could not fit a new one.
