Just had first annual service done on my 2 x D6 Volvo engines (to ensure we get an extra years warranty) and have just received an invoice today for just short of £1000. This seem excessive in the panels opinion?

Cost breaks down to £300 labour and £700 ish on parts??

Maybe I am just out of touch with prices as I normally do my own routine services.

Anyone had a recent 100 hrs/1st year service on same engines?

Just curious, but was it with Peters, as they quoted me nigh on £700 for a kad44 with outdrive for first service & wanted payment up front!

What exactly is involved in a routine service:

Oil Filters, Fuel Filters, Engine & Gearbox Oil, Air Filter, impellers, general checkover, a bit of greasing?

Cant think of anything else?

After a few years, or hours, (whichever comes first), belts need changing, and probably some other stuff, but not necessarily routine at 1 year.

Similar service for my single Volvo D4 260 ~ £500 so sounds about right so 1k for twin setup sounds about right

Company was not Peters, Dartmouth based company

Parts included 4 x oil filters, 2 x fuel filters, 4 x anodes, 2 x impellors, 2 x air filters, 2 x crankcase breathers (£68 each) and oils. So no belts changed and looks like the Racor pre-filters were not done either.

Looks like this is fairly typical then for annual - the 1st 50 hr service was a lot less.

I must admit what p****s me off is the fact that (even though I was there keeping an eye) the engineer spent loads of time on the phone to his buddies, work related but not my work and also went off for an hour to get the spares kit that he had forgotten! I think I have been charged for all this time so need to have a word as they say in Eastenders!

6 hours labour @40.00 per hour seems about right to me.
3 hours per engine.
Parts prices sound typically "Planet Volvo" tho........
