Please can someone advise?
I have the Volvo Penta 855517 Sea Water Pump that is fitted to the AQ171c or 251A engine and have purchased the Shaft Overhaul Kit. I have replaced the shaft and seal but still have a minor drip. In the kit is a bearing / bushing (item 11 in the diagram) which has not yet been replaced.
Has anybody changed this?
How do you remove the bushing and install a new one? Which way round do you push the bearing out and subsequently the new bearing in?
I assume you would use a bearing press?
Would a half-ton arbor press be sufficient or is there a “Do It Yourself” way with a vice and appropriate drift, or bearing puller?
This is the bushing in the main body of the pump so access is from both sides.
Would be interested in any success or failure stories as the next step is a replacement pump and they are getting rare and extremely costly.
