Have taken the sail drive off and taken the "leg" home for stripping and painting.

Going with epoxy primer, primer, then antifoul

In the inner part where the sea water goes up to the boat was a rather large oyster shell!

As the leg will not come off for another 7 years, is it worth painting the inside to prevent growth?

Spray painting should be easy enough but sanding down to remove the oxidisation will be difficult in there.

Don't bother. Fit a separate raw water intake. I have a saildrive and the raw water intake was blanked off from new with a separate skin fitting and seacock. Much easier to sort out blockages/jellyfish/ etc.
