VOLVO Saildrive Engine Bed

I have a 1978 Volvo saildrive engine bed. The bed only has half the saildrive seal clamp ring bolt holes tapped. Does anyone know if the bed has seperate threaded inserts or a metal plate suitable for tapping the missing holes. It seems to be the normal arrangement but I would prefer to have all the bolts fitted. Has anyone fitted a Beta to these beds.
 
Just in case it's any use to anyone I did a continuity check between bolts and found no connection so it seems the drive seal bolts are screwed into individual inserts.
