Hi I am assisting a friend to change the rubber seal the large one that keeps the boat afloat. The engine is a Md11c and the sail drive is 110s. We have finally split the gearbox from the engine, but nothing we have got on paper eg manuals resembles what we have on the boat. It appears that the drive from engine to sail drive gearbox is not a splined shaft but a rather large round cup shaped arrangement which has four paddles on the front which engage in a female equivalent on the crankshaft end. Is this standard

Yes I think so although the back end of the engine looks different the 6 bolts on the gearbox fixing flange appear or connect to a spacer as shown which in turn is attached to the engine with 3 Allen screws.
We will have a better look next time but I imagine it will be difficult lining up the drive coupling.
Thanks for you help regards Mike
