I have a VDO Volvo Penta rev counter with electronic hour counter. It dates from 1997. The various serial numbers are VP1395, VP 873660 and VDO N02070009. It shows 0-4600rpm on the front.

The problem is it needs a replacement glass and my local dealer tells me he can't source this and instead I need a new tacho. It really irks me cos I think the tacho is usable - so anyone know where I can get the glass?

Thanks

James

On an older version I experienced a swollen rubber ring seal betwen glas a nd tacho body.
I proceeded as follows, 2 years ago:
1) with small pliers very cautiously "opened" the lid of the tacho box, which is crimped close,
2) took out the old seal,
3 )replaced with a thin layer of liquid rubber,
4) put glass back in place,
5) re-crimped by hand the case outer lid.

Of course tis vids any garantee You might have on the tacho, but personally had no pbs during extended use.

Cheers,

Gianenrico

I think I'd have a word with a clock or watchmaker. They often have to replace the glass over dials and the like, and would no doubt have a source.

Worth a few 'phone calls anyway.
