Does it just slip over the top of the nut or is there something missing? It's the turbo wastegate control system, and it should be connected!

Thank you.No idea. In your photos, there appears to be some sort of circlip on the pin the arm should connect to.
thank you I will try and loosen it tomorrow. The engine can rev high sometimes with just a little touch of the throttle. The rectangular plate with the post on it, is the wastegate flap. If should be free to turn. They regularly get gummed-up and seize.
Try to turn it. If it is seized, you will need to remove the exhaust elbow and get it freed up with some carb cleaner.
Without it connected, or indeed with it connected and seized, you can over-boost the engine, potentially causing damage.
Good stuff. Check it every year. Also, check the exhaust elbow every year to make sure it's not starting to get blocked, because this causes back-pressure which spits salt water back into the heat exchanger, which corrodes the heat exchanger. All loosened up and reattached. Freed it up with some cleaner and WD40 and a bit of a wiggle.
