Volvo-Penta running problem

I have recently had a brand new 5.0 Ltr Volvo Penta engine & outdrive fitted. This is the latest fuel injected petrol V8 270 BHP. She runs perfectly until cruising at around 3,500 RPM. After about 25-30 minutes the revs drop off and the engine hunts from idle to 1,200 RPM regardless of throttle position

the engine returns to normal if it is left for a couple of hours. Everything was replaced during the refit. Fuel lines filters water seperators etc. The fuel tank has been inspected and everything else is new.

Has anyone got any ideas?

yes contact volvo & tell them to fix it if as you say it's new,otherwise it sounds like a fuel problem to me,regards mm1.
