The top part of the exhaust which connects to the elbow from the turbo via a large rubber flange held in place by large jubilee clips has rotten away and will soon start to leak. I'm sure I read somewhere you can get a kit to fix this problem and was wondering if anybody has come against this problem and solved it without replacing the whole exhaust.
The engines are a couple of AD31's I noticed this when I had to remove the turbo as it had seized due to rust in the elbow just after I had had the boat out to antifoul her just before the starter motor failed...........dont you love boating!!!!

There is a kit, mainly plastic I think, that fits into the top of the exhaust. They were already fitted to mine when I got her but I recall the local engineers making a point of checking that the kits were fitted. Even at Penta prices, they can't be prohibitive.

Hi yes there is a kit & it works very well &can be done in water ,as long as the pipe is not to rotten,be brave as you will be looking @ sea water in pipe when you dismantle& try & keep some weight forward regards m m 1.
