Volvo Penta MD 22L

Does anyone have any photos of a MD 22L? Specifically, any photos showing the external routing of water hoses, pipes etc.

I recently purchased a complete set of used marinisation parts to transform the Perkins Prima diesel engine, into the MD 22L.
Although I have managed to work out where all the bits bolt on, I do not have any of the hoses. Therefore, a couple of photos showing what hose goes where would 'speak volumes'.

Also, can somebody tell me the choice of gearbox's that fit the MD 22L?

The North America Volvo website proved very useful with some good pictures. Do you know if the MD 22L requires a specific gearbox?

In a Volvo application it will have either a Volvo conventional gearbox with a choice of ratios, or a saildrive. No doubt other gearboxes can be used but you need to speak to the gearbox manufacturers to choose one appropriate for your application. Lancing Marine would be a good starting point.

GB one is HERE but i think the end result is the same.

The engine manuals usually cover the VP gearboxes or sail drives normally fitted. You might find different transmissions on the other variants of the engine but they will only be VP ones.

We fitted an MD22L into our last boat and had to choose between the green painted Volvo MD22L or the blue painted Perkins Prima version, even though the engine was a Montego diesel marinised by Perkins. The Perkins version had a Hurth gearbox and the Volvo one a Volvo gearbox, plus in the Volvo version the electrics were Bosch. We chose the green Volvo one because they gave a 3 year warranty and didn't exclude the alternator if we used a smart regulator (as did Perkins) plus at the time the instrument package was more comprehensive as well. If I remember correctly too the Volvo gearbox had a slight (5 deg?) down angle too which made it easier to install onto the existing engine beds.

Thank you all for your valuable help. I will try Lancing Marine for advice on a suitable gearbox, my installation would also benefit from a gearbox with a slight down angle.
