Volvo Penta Hour Meter Replacement

I am wanting to replace the LCD hour meter built into the Volvo Penta rev counter. The replacement hour meter module is available from Curtis Instruments (which is a 701PN00101248D Part No. 17075110) at a cost of £14 plus P&P.

The problem is, Curtis have a minimum order of £50 +vat so I would have to order 5 hour meter modules.

Would anyone be interested in obtaining one of the 4 spare hour meters at cost?

Do your own check but I think this http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/hours-run-meters/1856107/?origin=PSF_381789|cav is the same and available singly from RS. Would like to hear your conclusion as I was thinking of getting one.

However if there is any doubt and you want to go for the Curtis unit count me in for at least one. I will check with a friend who I think also needs one.

Have looked at the RS hour meter, I cannot confirm that this will replace the hour meter in the Volvo Penta rev counter.

However, having read a few articles and also spoken to Curtis Instruments, there unit will definitely fit.

I seem to remember a thread on here re the non-working VP hour meters, due apparently to dampness in the unit.The 'cure' was to take home and leave in the warmth of the airing cupboard;the hours are retained in the memory when re -fitted.
One of our forum friends had a few for sale,so may be along if he still has them; also there was a separate thread describing exactly how to remove and replace the old with a new unit ,within the last few months. mine has packed up too, so having to log hours run till I get around to it.

An alternative is to ignore the hours meter on the tacho and use one of these....... http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/hours-run-meters/1884398/

Bit more expensive, but simple to fit/wire. I connected mine across the power to the tacho light...so it records hours the ignition is on rather than engine hours... but there are only a few seconds difference each time.

The original part on the instruction appears to be obsolete but this is the part that RS stock RS part no 185-6107 and manufactured by curtis instruments
