Hello,
I want to give my heat exchanger matrix a good clean (D1-30f). In order to remove it, can I pull it out towards the front or do I need to remove the rear cover cap as well to push it out ?
The rear cover doesn’t want to come off and I’m reluctant to force it since it’s only plastic and the replacement is around £70.
Many thanks.

PS. This image is not actually my own heat exchanger, just a picture of a similar one.

Hi, you do need to take both covers off to remove the tubestack as the o-rings form a compression seal. It also makes it much easier to use a soft(ish) piece of material to 'encourage' the tubestack out.
When refitting, use a non-setting gasket compound on the o-rings, this helps prevent crevace corrosion. If you can stomach the cost, Volvo Penta used to/ still may do a very good, brown sealant that is ideal for this purpose - I used blue hylomar, and was very careful not to get any in the coolant system,
