Spent a hideous 3 hours yesterday rubbing down all parts of engine where paint had come off /gone rusty caused by un- spotted raw water pump leak. I can't buy anything from Volvo except a spray can! Can't cope with that, I'd finsh up spraying the bloody saloon! Volvo only sell 1 litre in ordinary paint (£28) and I only need a tiny tin. They don't seem able (willing?) to tell me the BS number so I can match it. Can anyone help?

I used some Almond Green from my morris minor. Still obtainable from paint suppliers or East Sussex Minors about £8 a tin. for spray. Not engine paint but it has stayed on as the engine runs fairly cool anyway.

Just a comment ~ if buying paint on-line or mail order it cannot be delivered by Royal Mail. Recently bought a spray can of Perkins Blue (£13?). Courier charge was considerably more than cost of paint! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think I've got half a large tin of Volvo paint in my lock-up. As I'm now blessedly free of green monsters for ever, it's surplus to requirements. Yours for the price of a pint or two...

I'll have a look for it tomorrow and if it's OK I'll PM to arrange delivery.

Used the Hammerite green as a touch up; it looks perfect to me. Should I visit the optician /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

What ever paint you use I suggest you treat the rusty areas with a chemical rust remover, then clean it down again and retreat, and again, if necessary to be sure there is no rust left before you paint it.

If you use Hammerite I suggest several coats.

I really don't see the need to accurately match the Volvo green, its only a bl**dy boat engine, but if you insist it is easy enough to mix two Hammerite colours.
