Volvo Penta EVC PCU blown £2800 to replace

Scarron, thanks for the info and if all else fails I may take you up on the offer. This forum is so helpful, I really appreciate all the advice and help everyone has offered. From what I initially thought was a lost cause I know have many avenues to investigate. Thanks everyone.

Sorry, my bad :(

The info was quite specific to Phil's engine/EVC generation, and I don't want to mislead anyone now or in future (perhaps if they are searching the forum history for solutions should they have a similar issue to Phil's) and assume that the info I'd put for his engine was relevant for them as well; the hardware numbers are quite specific to the various EVC systems and simply will not work if they aren't suitable.

All I had put in my PM was a list of the suitable HW numbers as there are 4 different ones that would accept the software for Phil's EVC system, so he was able to expand his search for a suitable replacement rather than just seek a like for like HW number. His reply was confirming what he could get and seeking confirmation on which would be best.

*update* many thanks to all who replied, I eventually made the decision to purchase a second hand PCU from Coastal Rides and with the assistance of Andyroonot Iam pleased to report that we are now up and running we went out on Tuesday for a good 2hours plus and it never missed a beat, thanks again all from one very happy owner.

Couple of our boat club members have been very satisfied indeed with respectively a gearbox and some nav gear recently purchased from CR.
Splines on a gearbox gave up taking out other vital bits,, repair cost estimated to be over £4.5K.
Replacement box...less than half that.
Have heard a few comments in the past from less than satisfied customers tho !
