Volvo Penta D6 EVC Display problem

I have a flybridge Nimbus with a single D6 which has dual station controls. Recently the EVC display on the flybridge (which is the small display panel in the rev counter) has started to cycle between information readouts instead of showing just the single readout selected by the control wheel on the panel. Restarting the engine seems to have no effect on this. Any ideas?

I would start by swapping the EVC control panel with the one at the other helm. Sounds like a dodgy wheel.
