I have a 2006 Volvo Penta D1 with around 140 engine hours. I purchased the boat last year and have noticed that when engine revs are moved to idle after being run for some time the oil pressure alarm sounds. This can be silenced by a small increase in revs but then sounds again in idle.
The engine otherwise works fine, starts well runs at max revs without over heating, doesn't smoke etc so I am hoping it is a faulty oil pressure sensor and the alarm is sounding because of hot and therefore thin engine oil. My questions are
1. Could my diagnosis be right and either way is it worth fitting a new one first?
2. Where is the oil pressure switch on the engine when viewed form the top as access is tight.
Thoughts much appreciated and thanks in advance.
