hello. could anybody recommend a good source of spares for a volvo penta AQD21A i can get bits for the engine itself as it is the same as a peugoet 504d but cant for the marine element of it. we have recently had some work done to one of the engines which involved removing it. but upon refiting it we have broke the water cooled exhaust elbow which is made out of cast. nice timing with the weather picking up i know, apparently volvo penta have stopped making spares so hoping someone out there may have a stash of penta spares
regards

If its cast you could cast your own in ali make a mold use PPU to form the mold then pack with sand and pour the molten ali.Better than nothing and often works very well

Can be done on a beach with very fine sand

I have had a pair of these engines in the past and found that the cooling system was a problem as they used different metals which caused some heavy corrosion. My solution was to replace the header tank, exhaust manifold and elbow and fit a Bowman combined exhaust manifold/header tank from Lancing Marine. The cost was less than an exhaust elbow alone from Volvo at the time and it worked well. Some plumbing needed and I had to get a thermostat housing/hose tail (from a scrapyard, but cant remember what vehicle it came off of, probably a Peugot car (same engine)) and I had to make up a supporting bracket to help take the weight off of the manifold flanges. Alternatively try Northgate Marine in Beccles. I sold all my usable old redundant bits to him including two exhaust elbows. Dont know if he still has them as it must be around 5 years ago now but worth a try. Another option may be that ASAP Supplies can probably get a suitable elbow made, or try a local fabricator and have one made up in stainless. Good luck.
