Hi,

Has anyone replaced the seal and bearing using the repair kits available for repairing the sea water pump, and if so was the repair successful using the kits.
Current cost of a new pump is £430.00 , and the cost of a repair kit is around £85.00 if postage is included, as the kits seem to be only available from the states.

Seems a lot of money to pay out just for a worn seal.

if only the seal no prob, shaft may have a worn area too, in which case it may not be satisfactory
and you have further hassle and salt water leaks possibly causing corrosion

Agreed if there's corrosion on the shaft, then its a new pump won't know till its stripped down.
The pump is a three year old genuine Volvo Penta part,so would have expected it to lasted longer than three years.
