Hello All
I would be extremely grateful if anyone could offer some advice regarding a problem with my volvo engines.
They are fitted into my project 31 and were brand new in 06.
Since purchasing the boat, I have found that the engines will cut out at low revs, a nerve wrecking situation in a crowded marina!
Using the boat at cruising speeds presents no problems but close quarter manouvering at low revs the engines will occasionally just die out.
Both engines are affected in this way.
The problem has become worse since lifting the boat out in September and re-launching in Feb, I now find the engines seem lumpy, and just peter out at idle.
Before the lay up I did clean out the fuel filters which seemed pretty clear, I also tried to adjust the idle control on the carb to no avail.
I must admit the boat was stored with about a quarter tank of fuel , of which I feel may have gone stale?
I firs thought it could have been damp in the ignition leads and have sprayed with wd40, but the problem still there?
The engines seem lumpy at 1000rpm and when you try to quickly throttle up it occasionaly backfires or cuts out as if it sucking in too much air?
Slowly moving the throttle lever, they throttle up fine?
I hope someone could help, and any advice would be greatly appreciated
Many Thanks
Danny
