Volvo Penta 2003T Water Pump stripping

I have a leaky seal on the sea water pump of the 2003 turbo. Anyone have any guidance on stripping down and replacing the seals? NB this is the turbo version pump.

It would be short-sighted not to renew the impeller at the same time, also to inspect the wearplate, the end cover and the bearings.

It's probable that the seal is knackered because the shaft is rusty or scored. Make sure that the shaft is clean and smooth before replacing it - if in doubt, replace it.

hi just done mine on 2003 not turbo. Took less than I hour. Needed to punch out insides of pump, hammer with wood dowel, made up replacement kit as per the old one I removed and punched back in. The pump water in and out feeds are just push in fittings. Few bolts holding the pump to the engine. It was that easy. Raw water pump service kit with all the bits you need 60 ish pounds from keyparts or just the seals at 10 ish pounds. Impeller extra.
