Is it difficult or in any way problematic ( breaking bolts ?) to remove the cylinder head from a VP 2002, c 1988 ? ( raw cooled ).

The valves are in need of attention, methinks, as well as the injectors, and I also want to take it off to see why there is no throughway from the exhaust mixer elbow into the head.

Thanks,

No - it´s straightforward. Whilst its off it makes sense to get the copper sleeves that the injectors sit in replaced.

Gasket set isnt cheap.

If you take the injectors out they may well come out with the sleeves. The end which fits into the head is just expanded in and any build up of crud between the nozzle and the sleeve will have a better grip than the sleeve does in the head.

Took my head off, no problems at all --until it got to my engineer, who told me there was no reason head-wise "why oil tracks should show on the valve lips, must be the rings".

Great.

Otherwise, all is ok, the injectors came out with no fuss and tested perfick, sleeves seem ok, so I asked him to grind in the valves and clean it all up for me.

The waterways were well crudded up though, that's my job.
