Anyone had a problem with this on old volvos?

Engine starts and runs at about 1800 revs. Throttle cable operates lever arm on govenor but revs don't change up or down. So fairly sure that's the problem.

Question really is, has anyone else come across this and is it common on this type of engine?

Ta in advance.

Never had that problem but have a lookie here ( assuming its a DPA pump....), Is the shaft turning and does it spring return? If not maybe the spring has popped off or some such...

That's fab, thanks. Three of us have been looking but that really is great. I'm fairly convinced it's the spring in the govenor. Understand it now from that. Might need the local marine mechanic to get and fit parts. Easter looming so not holding breath.

It's not urgent but still pita!

Bosch MD7B injection pump.jpg

As you have an MD7B you may have a Bosch pump.

I wouldn't give up at this point asit could just be a broken spring. Go looking on the Facebook volvo marine engine group and also check with Marine Enterprises in Dorchester who resell engines and may have parts.

Marine Enterprises Ltd

Thanks for that link.
We are waiting for the yard to give a quote on a new one. I've prepared my friend, the owner, mentally.

Went to the office this morning and of course, quick as a flash, nothing has happened. Asked them to agitate the process a bit! However in the typical Spanish fashion, they close on Wednesday pm for the Easter hooley. Plus getting spares here is not easy.

May help remove it over the weekend when owner is back from his Day Skipper course so he can take it back to UK for refurbishment.

Nothing is ever straightforward.....

No injection specialists there? These may not be Volvo specific and may be serviceable.
I think there is one in the industrial estate by the port in Arecife. Problem normally comes up with language. I'm OK in general conversation but not technical stuff. Could spend all day chasing around for no result. Not uncommon here!
