The Engine alarm buzzer on my Volvo MD5b control panel is knacked. Thought I would try a replacement piezo buzzer from Maplin. However these are no use as they only operate on voltage range 4v-20v. the voltage at the outlet for the buzzer is 1.5v.

Any ideas where to obtain a replacement of the original or a similar 1.5v buzzer.

Paul.

Are you checking the voltage under error conditions (when it should be buzzing?) I thought they were 12volt via a diode "or" gate across the ign light, oil light etc.

The buzzer on my VP2002 panel was not working and I simply wired a high power buzzer from Maplins in parallel. However it isn't waterproof so I had to mount it behind the panel but it is still audible above the engine. I suspect that the buzzer should be getting 12V - if you are only measuring 1.5V then I suggest that the fault may not lie with the buzzer but the switching circuitry. Have you tried putting a voltage across the buzzer to check that it is really defective?

Hi Bill, yes the contacts come out from what appears to be a large diode. when under alarm conditions I only get 1.5v across the contacts, guess it could be the diode at fault then although when I said the buzzer was "knacked" it really was as it fell apart!! will see if Sandy Wood has some old panels with buzzer and diode in his workshop

Me to, on my 2020, when should it buzz? mine doesn't on buzzer test on panel togel switch. My Yanmar used to buzz when the ignition was on but the engine not running, is the Volvo the same?
