The oil cooler on my Volvo MD22 engine has got a hole in, plus one of the water pipes to it, aluminium and due to a not seen sea water leak A replacement Volvo one will cost £820 whereas a similar Bowman replacement, capacity the same but dimensionally different, will cost approx £70. Apart from the thieving Volvo expensive spare parts con. Has anyone replaced a oil cooler with a non standard cooler and if yes how did you manage the job as regards new hoses, oil lines, looking to replace the solid oil lines with flexible lines for ease of installation etc. Or anywhere where you can get a cheaper Volvo oil cooler, actually a Perkins oil cooler.

Thanks

Peter

Go here and check out what you have got http://www.marinepartseurope.com/en/volvo-penta-cat-7746710.aspx If i remember correctly you could take off the cooler from the end of the manifold and put the blanking plate on the end of the cooling water intercooler. Then get some new pipes from ASAP or the Bowman suppler and mount the Bowman somewhere handy

I dont remember having anything to do with the oil cooler on Rogue, so dont know whether it is part of the marinisation or not.

The basic engine is a Montego 2 litre diesel, so if the car had the same oil cooling part, you may find one at a motor factor, or a scrap yard?

Mine hasnt got one on but John on his Moody 46 has, his is the TD 78 hp, so I assume they fitted them on the TD.
It fits on the end of the water intercooler and all that load of stuff is VP. If you follow my link and go down the page you can see the oil coolers and am pretty sure it is just a case of putting the blanks on the end if you remove it.
