Volvo MD2040 is Equivalent to which Perkins Perama?

Hello All

Does any one know which model Perama is the MD20240 rebadged?.

The M35 is 35 HP but the 2040 is 40HP. I'm not so sure a coat of special Volvo green paint added the 5 HP.

Can anyone point me in the direction of any online resource which details the similarities and differences.

And which motor vehicles have this engine installed?

Not used as vehicle engine but northern lights and others use for gen sets which mY help in your area

The MD2040B is a Perkins Perama M35. It is also a Caterpillar 3013, Perkins 103-15, Isuzu 3CD1, it also is used on Massey Ferguson and Ford Hew Holland.

It is made for all the above by Isikawajims Shibaura and is used in their tractors also.

The difference in HP is that Volvo rates the MD2040B at 3200-3500 rpm. Caterpillar limits and rates their engines to run at 2800 wide open throttle.

I trust the Caterpillar philosophy better that Volvo. I don't think Volvo cares if you run it at 3500 rpm and it breaks at 2000 hours. They make out on the rebuild.
