I am looking to re-engine my Gib'Sea 28. I like the look of the Volvo MD2020 as it appears to represent fairly good value for money. They offer a gearbox output angled at 8° downwards which would make installation in a cramped area easier. I have to rip out the original enine bearers as they are very odd - I am replacing a Yanmar YSM12. As the new engine will be a fair bit taller than the current instalation I suspect that the angle of the prop shaft will make more difference which is why it seems a nice idea to have the angled output shaft - which I feel will make the engine sit more comfortably in the engine bay. It think the Beta engine would probably be suitable but they ask a big premium to have the angled gear box output.

Any comments would be much appreciated

Make sure you have enough room for the extra height over youir old engine - and enough room to manouvre it into position.
The 2020 is OK - its based on a Perkins engine, and so is the Beta - If I had your choice I would go for the Beta - based on a Kubota industrial engine and weel thought of. Do you really need the angled gearbox? If you are going to fit new bearers it won't matter either way.
Also look at Nanni - also based on the Kubota - If I remember correctly had a good wattanty deal, 3 years?
Also remember you will probably have to fit new Water lock, silencer, exhaust hose to suit the new engine(Volvo is Ø45 exhaust hose).
