I have a new Volvo primary fuel filter (glass bottom type) to replace the existing metal water trap (bulkhead fitted) one. Is there any point in fitting it in line rather than replacing the existing one, as I have had a couple of issues with the fuel system?

Also the gun metal water strainer effort still seems to work fine - is there any significant advantage in replacing it with a clear plastic alternative?

The plastic water filter is an in line fitting and many people fit it in the engine compartment just above the waterline . This is an advantage if ditch crawling as you can take the cover off remove a handful of weed and put the cover back without stopping. The bronze jobbies usual hide in the depths of a locker screwed to a seacock.!
