Can spannerman or some one help please with a couple of engine questions for KAD32s please?

Firstly, I need to do the valve clearances- done this on loads of cars and the clearances are printed on the engine cover I just need the order to adjust them in e.g. 1 and 2 rocking, adjust 5 and 6 or similar

Secondly, has anyone had problems with the drive belt adjuster pulleys? when I changed the belts last year they seemed a bit rough

Many thanks.....

Never had a problem with the adjuster pulleys. HAving said that I only have my KAD32 a year (2001 engine) and put up 250 hours

Firing order is 1,3,4,2.
I have changed quite a few pulleys because of roughness/noise so its not unknown for them to need replacing.

I'll see how much new ones are and of not too much replace as a matter of course.

The adjuster failing would be a problem when out on the boat- I keep spare belts on board but that would not help!

Spannerman - please could you define 'rocking' for me?
In your little chart above, is it both rockers moving on no.1 cylinder for no.4 piston to be in a position to have the valve clearance adjusted?
If so, with both rockers moving on no.1 cylinder why can't this cylinder have the valve clearance adjusted at the same time as no.4?
Thank you for your help.

By rocking, he means that the inlet valve and exhaust valve rockers are moving as you rotate the crankshaft back and fore a small amount- one valve opening, the other shutting.

Find the exact mid- point, if necessary feel the rockers with your finger, and adjust the valves on the other cylinder in the sequence.
By definition, if the rockers are moving, the clearance is zero...so don't adjust those ones!

Think of the four stroke cycle, the cyinder you adjust is about to fire so the valves are firmly shut, (a clearance exists between the valve and rocker as the spring does its job ) and the cylinder rocking is changing from exhaust to inlet stroke.

Hello,
I see you very kindly offered to e-mail the KAD service manuals to another member a couple of years ago and wonder if you could do the same for me, please.
I have a 2002 Sealine F33, bought this year with KAD32s and am so far delighted with them. I trust yours is still running well.
Thanks for your help,
