I am about to refit a machined imput drive/damper plate etc, and would be interested to hear from anyone who has undertaken this work and has any advice
I assume you mean the cushion system fitted when the splines are in good condition. I have done this and it is relatively easy. Spray allan bolts with wd40 and leave overnight and loosen with correct size key. I only had normal key and used pipe for leverage better if you have type that attatch to bar( socket set with allen key on end. Support gear box on removal with wood has it is difficult to hold. Fit cushion plate with rubber tubing supplied on the end of the allen nuts heads, this is the cushioning bit. Take care with the meaurement required for spacers
I did this job a year ago. I had no problems; just be careful to use the correct shims - the instructions from HB Marine were quite clear but you need to be able to measure to the nearest mm. Make sure you have a good engineering rule or, better still, a depth gauge.
