Volvo folding prop binding on Ambassador Stripper

Fitted new nylon/plastic bearings to my Ambassador Stripper (fitted to a Volvo 120 SE sail drive) today. Refitted Volvo three blade folding prop and tightened main hub nut up only to discover that the assembly was binding and hard to rotate on the shaft. It seems as if tightening the hub nut has compressed the fixed and rotating blades and caused friction on the nylon bearing that is between them. Don't know if I've put it together wrong but something doesn't seem right. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you got the spacer in the correct place, between the hub and the cutter? Is the pin engaged in the screw on the saildrive, is the cut out in the anode accurate and not interfering with the cutter, I can't think of anything else, I have the same setup.

I once had a similar problem, which was caused by the pin from the fixed arm of the stripper to the saildrive, becoming unscrewed. Thus jamming the arm ever tighter to the rotating arms of the stripper. The pin should be welded to the fixed arm to stop it unscrewing but the weld had suffered from electrolytic corrosion and disappeared.
Hope this helps.

You might have a point with the cut out. It might be a bit shallow which could put pressure on the fixed blade and in turn the bearing. I'll check it out. Thanks

have you used the correct anode, which is machined to give the right clearance?
