Volvo Engines

How would I tell by visually looking at my engines(D120 Volvo) if they have been serviced??
Russ

Have they been run up since servicing?

If they haven't then the oil on the dipstick should have at least some of it showing clear shiny oil. I say some of it, as my experience is that the sludge and oil that isn't evacuated fully when the engine is drained, makes the 'new oil' look 'old' very quickly.

You can't, unless of course you know what they looked like before (I assume someone else) serviced them. Only indicators are colour of oil, new filter etc, etc. Was an engine anode suppose to be replaced? Might be worth pulling one out to see if it's new. (or getting someone else do do it ).

As you bought the the boat in August what running have you done since then for the cost of materials ie oil and filters if in any doubt change them be fore using the engines
Can you not ask the previous owner ?
Ps there I'd no anode to find

Being pedantic there are D1 20 not 12 ltr D120 6 cyl large engines for which you may get different answers to your questions
