This is possibly an obvious question to those of you are familiar with the 290 dp leg. I can't loosen the cone. I presume it turns clockwise to loosen which is the same direction the prop turns when in forward motion. I have only applied little pressure cos I didn't want to force anything without asking. On the second prop ie the big one does the nut turn cw or acw ??
thanks for help.

Its an anticlockwise thread!!!! And of course you will have to have unscrewed the centre bolt first.

The nut is also acw.

Happy winter maintance!!!!

Both ACW and you need to put the engines into forward gear to undo them.

When putting them back on obviously put it into reverse.

There is also a torq setting for the nut that you tighten up in the middle, I think it was something rediculous like 24nm which seemed a bit lose to me! But hey...

It does seem a bit loose, but if you tighten much more it will sheer off - stainless doesnt tolerate the same torque as mild steel.
To ensure this bolt doesnt loosen, use locktight on the threads.
